The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, as a fellowship of teachers, scholars, scientists, artists, and performers closely connected to its urban community, provides stimulating educational programs and learning activities. Our students are preparing to understand a complex global society and to lead productive and meaningful lives.
CLASS houses ten departments, three schools, and an array of interdisciplinary programs. We offer both graduate and undergraduate degree programs in the fine arts, humanities, and social sciences. CLASS is the home of nearly 150 full-time faculty members, many part-time faculty members, and close to 50 staff members. We are also home 2,500 student majors.
The college is at the heart of the university’s cultural life as well as its advancement of human and humane knowledge through research and scholarship.
