John and Marta (RN, BSN, OCN) Zamiska established the Byron & Dreama Smith Scholarship in honor and memory of Marta's parents. In addition to receiving scholarship awards, Marta's parents supported her while she pursued her BSN. John also attended CSU while working full time.
The Zamiska's benefited from support, both financially and emotionally, throughout their academic years and wanted to set up this scholarship fund in order to do the same for others.
This endowed scholarship is granted to students in the College of Engineering and the School of Nursing. The award is given to academically strong students as a sign of encouragement and belief.
Awarded students must be in their Junior year majoring in Engineering or Nursing. The awarding will alternate between Engineering and Nursing (every other year). At the point when the donor's estate gift is distributed, then the fund's annual income will be evenly distributed between the 2 majors.
